Svefa brings in Broviken as new majority owner

23 / 12 / 2021

Broviken Gruppen II AB (“Broviken”) is becoming the majority owner of Svefa Holding AB (“Svefa” or “the Company”). Svefa is one of Sweden’s leading real estate advisory firms. The Svefa Group also includes Värderingsdata, which develops and offers systems for automated real estate valuation as well as services for analyzing and valuing the real estate market. Broviken will own the Company together with management and key employees within the Svefa Group.

Svefa was originally part of the Swedish Mapping, Cadastral and Land Registration Authority, and its operations were spun off into a separate company in 1995 under the name Svefa Svensk Fastighetsvärdering. In 1997, Svefa’s employees took over ownership of the company. Since then, employee ownership has declined. In the transaction currently underway, the company is being sold by 120 shareholders.

Svefa offers cutting-edge expertise and professional consulting services in the real estate sector. The company provides consulting services in real estate valuation, real estate development and urban planning, forestry and agriculture, analysis, management, corporate solutions, and transactions.

Svefa has offices in 18 locations from Malmö to Luleå and, thanks to its broad geographic presence, possesses unique knowledge of local markets. Among Svefa’s and Värderingsdata’s clients are municipalities and other public sector clients, real estate companies, institutional real estate owners, as well as banks and other users of real estate information.

Svefa, together with Värderingsdata, has annual revenue of over 300 million SEK, and the group has approximately 180 employees.

Mikael Lundström, President and CEO of Svefa, comments:

– There has been significant interest in acquiring Svefa, but in the end, Broviken emerged as by far the best buyer, both financially and culturally. With Broviken, we have the foundation to continue our growth journey. They share our core values and our strong ambition to be the leading independent real estate consulting firm. That is why we are very pleased that Broviken is now becoming the new majority owner, together with management and key personnel.”

Per Granath, CEO and founder of Broviken, comments:

– I have been following Svefa for many years and have been impressed by the company’s deep knowledge of the real estate market. Svefa’s culture—which centers on professionalism, reliability, and the ability to create value for the client—has brought the company to the position it holds today. Svefa’s strong brand enables it to attract the best individuals who are interested in growing and developing as real estate consultants. We are proud and delighted to have been entrusted with becoming Svefa’s majority owner. We look forward to further developing the company together with management and “employees.”

The terms of the transaction will not be disclosed; furthermore, the transaction is subject to approval by the Competition Authority.
